Oh, dear.

So, I am utterly lost. This is usually about the point in my projects where I get overwhelmed, discouraged, and generally uninterested in continuing. I tried to just learn more about web design and freelancing and whatnot but then, the actual design component is where I got stuck. How do you lay it out, make it look nice, etc etc?

So I got sidetracked into learning about some sites like Plasmic and Figma, which was getting away from the actual nuts and bolts of web design. This morning, I started to look into Hugo, only for Andy (who does web design on the side, and is a pro coder otherwise) to say he has never heard of it and that I should learn JavaScript. In the past I think I would get defensive or try to act like I knew more than I did to avoid embarassment, so I am happy to say that I admitted I probably knew less than I needed to in order to actually make a website in the way I wanted.

All that said, I still want to try and build some kind of side hustle for web design in the next year. My job is still low pressure right now, so I should take advantage of the extra time. Even though I don't want to spend time working, it's better than wasting time or money so I can do other things like work towards making a safety net or buying a house. Maybe I can turn it into something bigger but for now, I just want to make my poetry site and start there. I can build the site out a bit before starting to take submissions or whatever.

Meanwhile, I am becoming something of a regular at the coffee shop around the corner. Which is neat! I need to decide if I want to get a new laptop or a bike... they're related because I can take the bike around a little more easily & cheaply, but the laptop would be a quicker solution to the problem I currently face trying to work at the coffee shop. I could also keep trying to fix the one I have but I fear it's a losing battle. Really it's a matter of "get kicking on this website thing" or "figure out linux on this busted laptop?" Maybe I just try one or two more things before I look into a newer piece of hardware; still gonna install Linux on it.

Aside from that, I am visiting family back home this weekend. It's always kind of hectic and draining, which is only gonna be made more annoying by the fact that I have jury duty next Tuesday on the 18th. Not sure if I am going to get paid or not for it, so hopefully it's quick... AND I'm starting an intense new workout plan the same week, which throws even more heat on the candle. But I am excited to see my mom and my sister, and visit the niece and nephews, so I'm focusing on that.

In this moment I feel a little down but overall I'm a little more hopeful as of late. And it's sustained... getting more used to the feeling.
